Get advice

Client agreement

We are committed to helping as many people as possible to find a way forward. In order to treat everyone as fairly as possible, we have adopted a client agreement which lets people know about what they can expect and the services that we can provide.

You can get advice from us online, by email and over the phone. Please note due to Coronavirus restrictions affecting several of our staff and volunteers we are running a reduced service. Please bear with us.

Online

Before using our service we recommend visiting the national Citizens Advice website, which has a lot of useful information about the issues people come to see us with. A search there is a great place to start when you have a problem you’re not sure how to handle.

Email Advice

A new digital advice service is open to Teignbridge residents only and is provided by Citizens Advice Teignbridge. To make an enquiry Click here

Telephone

You can contact us by calling Adviceline on 0808 278 7997, 9.00am–5.00pm Monday–Friday. If you phone us we’ll spend a few minutes asking you about your issue to work out the best way we can help you.

Calls to this number are free. When the lines are closed you’ll be offered the chance to listen to recorded information or to leave a message so we can get back to you.

Please read what to bring before you call, as there are often documents it’s useful to have available. We recommend having a pen and paper to hand.

Adviceline

You can contact us by calling Devon Adviceline on 03444 111444, 9.00am–4.00pm Monday–Friday. If you phone us we’ll spend a few minutes asking you about your issue to work out the best way we can help you. Very often we can advise there and then over the phone, or you may be invited to come and see us in person, or pointed in the right direction if there is someone better placed to help.

Please read what to bring before you call, as there are often documents it’s useful to have available. We recommend having a pen and paper to hand.

Calls cost the same as to 01 and 02 numbers and are included in any ‘free minutes’ you get from your phone provider. When the lines are closed you’ll be offered the chance to listen to recorded information or to leave a message so we can get back to you.

Locations and opening hours

We offer drop-in sessions in Newton Abbot, Dawlish or Teignmouth. Please remember that demand for our service is high, and most of our team are trained volunteers who give up their time to help. Especially in Newton Abbot, you may need to wait to be seen, or if we’re very busy come back another day.

To help us make the best use of your time, please read what to bring before you come and see us. Very often it’s important for us to see the paperwork so we can advise properly.
